VSPAN Elections

The VSPAN Board is excited to announce our slate of candidates for the 2022 Board.
Running for Vice President/President-Elect is Amy Ballenger BSN RN CPAN . Her bio follows. I have been a nurse for 21 years, 18 of them in perianesthesia. I currently work at UVA’s Outpatient Surgery Center in Charlottesville, VA as the Nursing Education Coordinator for PACU. I’m CPAN certified and serve as a certification coach for ABPANC. I’ve been a member of VSPAN since 2007, and have served as the Education Chair for District 2 since 2017. I coordinated our 2019 State Conference in Staunton, Virginia and a webinar in April 2021. In addition, I’ve been active on the Board of Directors by championing an update of VSPAN’s logo, starting a VSPAN Facebook page, and acting as a moderator for VSPAN’s webpage on Nursing Network. I respectfully submit my intent to run for VSPAN Vice-President/ President-Elect. I would like to facilitate connections between perianesthesia nurses in all 5 districts and ensure that VSPAN is providing continuing education, networking, EBP guidance and advocacy to meet the needs of our members and attract new members.
Running for Treasurer is Leanne Davis MSN, RN, CPAN. Her bio follows. I have been a perianesthesia nurse for seven years in adult and pediatric preop and PACU. I am CPAN certified and have an MSN in Nursing Education from Liberty University. I have been a board member for VSPAN for three years as Public Relations and Marketing Chairperson and look forward to learning the treasurer role.
Running for Secretary is Tiffany G Mayhorn, MSN, RN. Her bio follows. My name is Tiffany Mayhorn and I have been a nurse for 15 years with eight years of experience in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and more recently a nurse educator at a level 2 trauma center located in Central Virginia. I have been a member of the VSPAN board since June 2018 and also serve as the district 1 co-chair. I am responsible for coordinating quarterly meetings with educational credits awarded. In 2018, I was inducted in Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor’s Society. In May 2020, I graduated from Liberty University with a Master’s in Nursing (MSN) with a concentration in nursing administration. I have a passion for perianesthesia nursing and evidence based-practice. I served as the secretary for the research council in PACU at my local hospital. I am a published author in the Journal of Perianesthesia Nursing, article titled Navigating the Path to a Sustainable “PACU Pause” and Standardized Perioperative Handoff: A Quality Improvement Project. As members of VSPAN, we encourage you to vote on these excellent candidates. Write in nominations are accepted for nurses who are active in Perianesthesia practice and have been a member of the VSPAN board for one year. Vote by messaging us on the VSPAN website. Votes must be received by December 1, 2021.
